Potential first Land Rover...

Hey all,

Apologies if this is not in the most accurate area, but first time posting.

I've seen a vehicle on auto trader that I'm interested in viewing and wanted to firstly see, if it was anyone's on here. As I think it would make me feel more comfortable about buying privately.

Also, I wanted to see what other peoples thoughts are who actually have owned a Land Rover, are about the vehicle. What things if I do decide to view the vehicle should I be paying the most attention too, and what questions should I be asking the owner?

Here's the link to auto trader https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202501027686591

Thank you and look forward to reading your responses.

James

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

It looks a nice car, despite the seller not being able to spell and thinking that the '4D' registration plate looks nice Confused

The interior is a bit marmite, but as long as you like it.....

The Cat N would need investigating - that means it was written off as the repairs would be uneconomic for the insurance company. Cat N means no structural damage, but you'd still need to be sure that the repairs were carried out to a good standard.

Cat N may also affect insurance premiums, so you'd need to check those out.

The iPad style screen is aftermarket, so you'd want to find out as much as you can about that and ensure that all the functions work properly.

its also only Euro 5 meaning you will not be able to enter some ULEZ zones without paying. MY 16 is the one with Euro 6. There are plenty around at the price level.

It’s been properly valeted and looks nice, but there are too many things which concern me, not least the Cat N classification. This is a 10 year old car so lots of things will be wearing out and needing replacement at some cost, plus the next service will be a biggy, all belts and fluids to be replaced.

I’d swerve this one. There are plenty of other cars out there at this price point, often posted on here by members.

Good luck

Agree with Andy S,

Bodykit probs the answer to frontal damage, & Cat N means you’ll struggle to sell it on when the time comes. Buy from someone on here, preferably not a brand new member. Be patient! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Agree with all above. I would not touch a cat N car let alone a Range Rover cat N overfinch modified

+1 on that from me too.

CatN effectively makes it a non-sellable car in future and clearly the seller is having trouble shifting it as he's dropped the price by over £2k since the beginning of January.

There's plenty around at that price and you'll find one at some point if you keep looking.

Top tip - always buy Range Rovers based on condition and history, mileage is largely irrelevant. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey
2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography (2021-2024) - Santorini Black
2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster (2016-2021) - Santorini Black
