It is pretty annoying. Really seems like a novelty. Current: 2017 L405 ATB, 2016 LR4 SE

I don't think its a novelty. It's a must have for me, continually know the speed you are travelling at. Navigation gives you a countdown in distance to the road you are turning into. Especially useful it your in an area your not familiar with & lots of turn offs. In Sport there is a rev counter projected on the screen.
I have it in my Range Rover & Mercedes S63 AMG. Would now never buy a car without it

I would never buy a car again that doesn't have HUD, along with adaptive cruise, adaptive lighting and deployable steps, heated steering wheel, hot & cold seats Rolling with laughter rear car crossing alarm! do I need to go on Rolling with laughter 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

You will have to try it and see for yourself, for sure. I definitely think it is annoying. Everything it does is done best off my windscreen or is not needed.

For example, all of my nav stuff is audio, I don't need a visual, and if I do, I need a map, not some silly HUD. The list goes on for me too. I know my speed because my foot is on the accelerator or I set cruise control. I know the nav stuff because my nav system tells me. I rarely use the nav system built into the vehicle since it is so inferior to my phone.

It does not display anything I need to know on a split-second basis, so mine is turned on before I take the vehicle to service, just in case it is inop. Other than that it is off.

If do see where some of the nav information might be useful if you have some kind of complex driving to do in urban areas. I can see why some people may like it, but I do not. I don't mind that it is there and I do think that it is standard on ATB and my requirement for purchase was ATB.

A vehicle not having it would not be a deal breaker for me at all, but then again I don't buy new built to order vehicles, so I take the best I can find on the market when I am looking to buy. Current: 2017 L405 ATB, 2016 LR4 SE

I had on a previous car, switched it off in the end.
I don’t understand why everyone raves about it as a safety feature but on the new RRS they have removed all the buttons so you can’t do anything without taking your eyes off the road to change any settings

I hate most driver aids in today's modern cars - I can make my own mind up as to what skills/actions are required thanks.

But the best 3 things on my 'new to me' L405 are the HUD, blind spot indicator and the collision alert. It even activated the emergency braking once when it thought I was not going to brake in time (I am a notoriously late braker).

ACC is ok but a pain when it slows down if you don't pull out early enough to another lane, then changes up a gear or two to get back to speed.
