I'm locked out and have no spare key.

Hello all,

Because of the fact that my keys are sitting on the rear cargo mat in plain sight with the vehicle locked, I've got a decision to make. It looks like I have no choice but to break one of the rear windows. There are a handful of L322s at the local yards, so I have replacement glass available.

What glass is less labor intensive to replace? The front door glass, rear door glass or the smaller vent window glass? The vent glass I guess is glued/bonded from what I've read. I've seen plenty of door glass replacement videos, but I can't find any information on replacing the vent glass, so I don't know what's involved.

Which one is getting broken?

Or you could just call in your local locksmith. Any decent one would get the door open in a jiffy with no damage. Mike - MPx

Call triple A I think it is in the US, people are always locking themselves out of their cars and would take them very little time in getting one of the doors open for you.

If a glass has got to go, front door for sure, apart from the mess you could have that swapped out in less than an hour. Rear doors really confined and not much space to work in.

3/4 panel is bonded in, it would take ages to replace that, i.e. you'd literally have to chip away at the bonding to get rid of all the debris and then pay a specialist to fit the new one. Would be much harder to get a new piece of glass as generally I don't think they bother to try to recover these.

Enjoy the solitude Thumbs Up
