Is it really the case that the stealer has to spend an hour at the computer to update my gearbox software and reset the gearbox memory?

Wants to charge me £150 for it. Sounds absurd that it actually takes an hour of their time!

Can a good independent do it or can only the stealers get the updated software?

Has anybody done it? Is it likely to make a difference?

If you were having a service done at the same time etc you can usually get away with 30 mins as it'll already be plugged in.

But in reality they arent a pit stop crew, it probably does take them an hour to get the car from the carpark, get it into the workshop, do the work, discover they've scratched your car, come up with some bull that the scratch was already there etc...
