United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Java Black
Fuel gauge only goes to a quater tank.

2004 l322 $.4 V8 Petrol
I filled up with petrol yesterday until the pump clicked off. when I started up again the gauge was at the same level 1/4 tank showing.
The gauge is still going down, now showing 1/8 of fuel left and 60 miles range.
I've tested with my gap iid and its showing 0xD7 fuel sender 2 fault.
Having searched the wonder web I have a couple of questions.

1 Will it cut out when the range reaches 0 miles ?
2 With an almost full tank of fuel will I still be able to remove the senders without flooding my car with petrol ? (I think this wil be fine looking at the shape of the tank.)

I'm guessing its either the second sender thats faulty or the connection in the tank is faulty.

Any help/advice would be great.

Thanks Jim

There's a known issue with the sender wiring under the rear seats of the L322.

A quick search should find you the info you need.

I'll have a quick look for you now, whilst I have a cuppa.

Have a read through these:

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic41061...uel+sender

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic46574...uel+sender

Without going through the threads in detail myself, the issue here seems to be a wiring connector within the tank, between the top cover and the pump / sender.

Not a job I've ever had to do.

I'm sure there is also an issue with the (external) wiring under the seat itself, so maybe worth wiggling them around and cleaning the contacts whilst observing the fuel gauge to see before diving into the tank itself.

Good luck,

I would ignore the last five words of Jon's advice.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
