Hi, im looking at upgrading my head unit and climate panel and thinking of going the Aliexpress route. The main reason is the OEM sat nav is outdated and no further map updates available for my 2013 l405. And I think they look good. I’m looking at the 12.3 screen. I,m a bit of a technophobe but want to use Waze on a larger screen than my phone. Hopefully the link will take you to the one I’m looking at. Has anyone got one and if so where from. Not looking at uk prices as cant justify that much. Also the add has options for climate panel which I get but what is the point of new steering wheel and window buttons. Any advice would be appreciated.

A screen from there is a lottery, it will work fine or drive you nuts.....

Door and steering wheel buttons are not required, the steering wheel ones probably don't work too well either, some mean you lose the flappy paddles....

Plenty of threads on here about units that do "work" although there always seems to be a trade off somewhere...

Only advise I can give is that I have the below unit made by Merryway and it does all you would want, only thing I can find is that the steering wheel skip buttons don't work in CarPlay, apparently this is a failing of Carplay...!!! Screen buttons work though so no real issue...

Hi, thanks for your input, I’ve read so much and there is so much information about it makes it hard to make a decision. I had a look at merryway and there 12.3 looks identical to the one I’m looking at however it has android 14 instead of 12 not sure if that makes much difference. Plus it’s about £350 more. The link seems to work for me so not sure what’s up with it.

Weird, it works now...

Those come with the part of the dash surround and the leather match is pretty awful apparently so you may have to price in getting it recovered to match...

Generic, unbranded units are rife... some will be OK but who knows which one....
