New to this - L322 Coding Needed

Hey - I’m new to the world of FFRRs but have quite a lot of BMWs under my belt. I’m familiar with the options available via coding from this era being very BMW based, as much as I’m not a huge fan of non-OEM stuff.

I’ve got myself an iCarsoft LR V3 for general diagnostics and service stuff. However, there are two things on my 2011 TDV8 that are annoying me - and both seem to be only solvable with a GAP IID.

1. Central locking - The drive away locking is great, but all of my BMWs and MINIs from this era have unlocked when you switch the ignition off. It looks to be an option in the ECU but only accessible via the GAP IID from what I can see. Remembering to hit the unlock button every time I get out in order to open the boot is driving me slowly insane…

2. DRLs. I’d like to code them on. I do a lot of motorway driving and I just like the fact they make you more visible. Again, seems only the IID tool will do this.

I don’t really want to spend the kind of cash for an IID for these two features alone. Question is, is there any other way to achieve this (perhaps via the diagnostics menu on the screen, or via another tool?) or if I could find a friendly person who’d let me borrow their IID, would the car remember the settings, or would I have to keep asking/paying someone to recode it?

Thanks in advance. 2011 L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

An IIDtool will be locked to a VIN for configuration changes unless it has a multi-vehicle licence as would be required by a workshop.

It will cost you £80 (I think) to get someone else's IID in a position to modify your CCF, the IID will read and clear faults for free on another motor but not do what you want...

Buy second hand and think of it as an investment, mine lives in the glove box and over the years has been a godsend on occasion... Thumbs Up Pete

Thank you both - That makes sense of the transfer fee or additional VIN. I didn’t realise the configurable functions were VIN locked. 2011 L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue
