United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Baltic Blue
Now that I’m going to keep it, an introduction…

I’ve wanted an L322 for ages. After opting out of the company car scheme a couple of months ago, I decided now was the time to give one a whirl. Being a daily driver, I wanted some economy and a relative level of reliability. I settled on a late 4.4 TDV8, an ideally wanted one with climate seats, and a non-black interior and exterior combo. After some searching and viewing, I found a 2011 Vogue, Baltic over Ivory, climate seats, clear glass and 95k on the clock. Most importantly though, it came with stacks of invoices, a full dealer service history and Pirelli Scorpion Zeros all round. I did the deal and set about driving it home - It didn’t go well. 30 miles in, a ‘vehicle raising’ message flashed up a couple of times followed by a red ‘suspension fault’. Long story short, the NSF airbag popped. I was in the middle of nowhere with miles of country lanes and B-roads to do before getting back to smoother roads. I decided not to risk breaking anything else so called the AA. 12 hours later I finally got home - minus my new purchase which had been taken to a local LR specialist. Helpfully, I’d called them in advance of the purchase and provisionally agreed that I’d take it to them for a good once over and a service once I’d had it for a couple of weeks. I’d also held some budget back anticipating that there would be work needed.

After a few days, and two new OEM struts, I had it back. Since then, I’ve covered 2500 miles in it. I even did a few hours of off roading in it with a friend who’s just got himself a P38. Neither of us wanted to get caught out by not knowing how to use the cars, and it turned out to be a really informative and fun day.

Since then, I’ve discovered a crack in the plenum chamber and sourced a replacement. I’ve fitted some new gas struts to the bonnet and upper tail gate, had new number plates made up for it, cleaned and conditioned the leather, removed the oily fingerprints from the roof lining and got myself an Invery dongle and an iCarsoft.

After the off-roading, my rear suspension has started to creak so I suspect rose joint/hub bushes are due. I’m finally starting to enjoy it now though. I’ve no doubt I’ll be on here frequently, looking for help.

Can I ask how you discovered a crack in the plenum chamber?
Did you have driveabilty issues or a warning message?

No drive issues. It had clearly been cracked and repaired in the past from the looks of it. I didn’t spot it initially as it’s a good and tidy repair but the specialist spotted it and said it wouldn’t last forever. 2011 L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

Can you remember where the crack was?
There seems to be quite a few failures and wondered if they all crack in the same place.
Thanks Kev.

It split at the seam and had been screwed back together with self tappers - much like this:

I've got a spare that I've cleaned and I'm going to reinforce the seams in the same way before I put it on.

Even though it had been ‘reinforced’ I still noticed some dampness around the inside of the donut. 2011 L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue
