Do you have a battery smart charger? I'd put it in test mode on each battery and test the remaining CCA and also charge it to 100% and see what voltage it reads. Anything less than about 70% can cause issues. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I charged using a ctek that took the charge over 80% of capacity which didn't make any difference. After the 5 hour charge and a 45 mile drive 2 days later Halfords said it was around 70% on the CCA. The strange thing with the battery is low voltage, typically 12.1V to 12.3V.

Two days later after sitting in the driveway its at 12.2V and 42% so there might be a can bus wire short going on.

Sounds like the battery and nothing more complex than that, to me. Remember cold weather can quickly kill weak batteries.

I'd be looking for a 100% charged voltage to be at least 12.5V and a CCA test run showing at least 700A. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

The car charging voltage on a running engine is 14.8V so there is nothing wrong with the alternator.

Update on this:

The car is booked into an independent garage on 13th January for the electrical issues and a few mechanical fixes so I had a few days spare to play with things. I bought a battery tester and put the battery on charge for 48hrs. The battery went from 12.1V to 12.4V and the CCA from 50% to 77%. So, the battery isn't great but not totally lost.

All the electrical issues of smart key not recognised, no stop/start, auto lights no available have all been restored following the 48hr battery charge. With the battery only attaining 12.4V it probably has some sulphation so when I get a few days free I'll do a couple of sulphation charging cycles on the battery to see if it can raise the standing voltage. If it doesn't then I'll need to replace the battery ahead of next Winter. Halfords warranty doesn't cover poor/reduced battery performance so there is no comeback there. They regard anything that holds above 10V is good to go.

It got kind of sorted. I left the battery on charge for 72hrs and that raised the capacity to over 70% and the voltage to 12.7V. Then the Gremlins were beaten and have yet to return.

No, I never had that issue. I would have noticed if it had as I Bluetooth the phone for music.
