Are all main dealers this useless?

Trying to book my L405 P400e in for repair- has to be a main dealer as none of the indie specialists will go anywhere near the under bonnet of a PHEV. Two main dealerships within feasible travelling distance from me, both in cities; one can book me in for a diagnostic check (not repair) in late February, the other offered the same for early April. No doubt there will be another 2-4 month wait for the repair to be carried out- that's if they can get the part (HV heater).

My gripe is that I don't think it's acceptable for the main dealer of a prestige brand to be running such a skeleton service. It's my only vehicle and if it became a non-runner through breakdown, I could be without a vehicle for 4-6 months.

If you have JLR warranty then phone up and ask for a JLR tech and not the AA, they can sort all sorts... Pete

Sadly, warranty expired. It's the availability of slots that's bugging me, not the fact I have to pay for the repair. They're worse than the NHS!

If you’ve got Land Rover assist use it. You will be amazed how quickly your car will go in and be returned with a courtesy dropped off. The dealership’s are obliged to fix these problems through Land Rover assist asap or be fined. You will hear people saying the warranty and extended approved warranty aren’t worth the paper they are printed on but I personally would never be without as you can extend your Assist only if your car is in warranty. I had a problem with the massage function on my seat and the dealership said the earliest to have a peak was January I phoned Assist Monday this week and said I couldn’t drive it when he arrived he agreed and phoned the dealership he was coming in so took the car then reappeared with a courtesy a couple of hours later. The car returned this morning and swapped with the courtesy all issued solved. 2021 SVautobiography Dynamic Black ( Black wheels need to go )

When I wanted Lloyd LR in Kelso to look at my rear active stabilisation bar in the autumn it was just over a month before they could do so. It turned out not to need work so I don't know how long that would have taken. It's longer than ideal, but better than what you have been quoted. I'm happy dealing with LLR in Kelso (in March 2025 I'll have been a customer at that site for 25 years, it was Croall Bryson before LLR took over). They also have places in Carlisle, Ripon and York, but I have no experience of their workshops. Only Range Rovers since 1988

That aligns with my experience of JLR main dealers sadly. Premium product with awful customer support. I have Northampton or Milton Keynes as my two local dealers and they are equally bad.

I have tried to book in for services and often been told it would be 2 to 3 months for a slot. It took them 3 months to replace my rear diff under warranty. It wasn’t a parts supply issue, just volume of repairs going through their workshop.

What I do always receive is a call back from sales to try and get me into a new one. I have told them I won’t buy a new one as their after sales service is so poor.

I ideally would have had a full main dealer service history but now have to use independent JLR garages who can always fit me in within a week or 2 at most.

Personally I would never use a main dealer for anything other than a service and I wouldn't even do that if it were not for the fact that I have a 3 year service plan already paid for. I have found independents to not only be far more accommodating but also provide a better service in general. _______________________________________________

its not just their service department, I just made an enquiry on a 2021 L405 and because I showed an interest they offered me 3k less than the LR website valuation. I wont be recontacting them, they can 'k-off. First time FFRR owner

I agree with ReggieMac. The main dealer in Berlin is absolutely incompetent. The work they provide in their workshop is not only expensive, but also sloppy. I would prefer an independent LR specialist. Unfortunately there aren't many in Germany...

I think the best thing to do would be to try and find a good specialist who is willing to have a look at it.

Even booking for a service is a two month thing i plan mine well in advance. overfinch modified
