Advice

So just been chatting with the dealer and although I initially ordered my D350 AB for the 1st March 25 it would seem it will arrive at the dealers 2nd/3rd week in Jan.

As such I can either have it straight away or on the 1st March.

It is a 25MY so if I wait it would be a 25MY on a 25 plate or a 25MY on a 74 plate?

As it will be a quarter 1 car LR discount will be the same for Jan or March but the dealership discount may be slightly higher in Jan.

What do you guys think? "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Congrats Thumbs Up

I take it, it's the same car, you're talking about holding off its registration?

What are you driving now and how much discount are they talking about? A contribution towards a Service Plan would be nice.

If it were me, I'd want to be driving my new car asap, Any discount I managed to negotiate would go down as genius man maths Very Happy 2024 P550e Autobiography

JackRegan, driving a new Defenders 110 D300 which I will be selling in the new year.

Yes, it’s just really about the reg plate and as for discount at this time no one knows - if we assume LR continue to offer the £2k loyalty discount the dealer may increase their offering by a few hundred pounds in Jan as opposed to March but it won’t be much Whistle

I guess having a 25MY on a 25 plate might be attractive but so would getting the new car in Jan Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

Me personally, much as I would want to get into it asap, you only have to wait 4 or 5 weeks to get it on a 25 plate, so i would wait. Thumbs Up

And of course, you weren't expecting it until March anyway. Whistle 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

My thoughts, for what they are worth!!

Are you going to stick a private plate on it? if so no one will know either way other than you?

Also, if its a 25MY then its a 25MY.

I don't think too many people are hung up on reg dates these days, more about model year, and lets be honest it will be registered in 2025, all be it early 25.

Any salesman will use it against you when you come to sell it, but in reality the second hand values are reasonably irrelevant unless you are going to sell in a few months, which if that's the case you have brought the wrong car given second hand values right now and the glut of unsold cars. Plus do we really care what they are worth we buy them for what they are not there residual values.

Also do you really want it sitting in a dealers car park getting covered in dust and possibly scratched and people poking about at it whilst the dealer shows of your spec to perspective buyers!!

I would say you have a better chance of a better PDI now rather than the rush in March when they just want to kick them out the door to get there commission.

I would go now and get a service plan thrown in or extended warranty. And enjoy it.

So a long way of saying take it now and enjoy it whilst you can, no one knows whats round the corner Thumbs Up

Having taken delivery of mine this week, I'd recommend getting into it as soon as you can - it is sublime.

There are some great points there to consider.

Do you have a buyer lined up for your Defender? I suspect the same reasoning for hanging back on the collection of your new FF would go against you when it comes to the pricing of your Defender. Balance the unknown gain in X year's time when you sell the FF against what you would lose on delaying the sale of the Defender till the new reg.

If you decide to hold off until March, the Defender is an ideal car to be in over the winter months.

When do you have to make your decision? 2024 P550e Autobiography

I agree with Dr F, unless you're planning to sell it this year it's a 2025 registered can and there are other things that will have a much greater impact on future value than the registration plate.

Take delivery and enjoy it. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Cheers folks for the advice/suggestions etc and agreed with the dealer to call him on the 2/3rd Jan to discuss the options of which at that time LR will have announced the support (if any) for quarter one.

He will also be able to discuss the further dealer incentives for my taking the car in Jan as opposed to March - apparently Jan is a slow month so they offer extra discount Surprised

Will then be able to make my final decision but it looks like it will be a 25 MY on a 24 plate although I do have a cherished plate I will be putting on Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
