United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover HSE Td6 Barolo Black
2002-2006 diff locker front or rear

Hello all I'm new to this site, I have traveled the internet to find if there is anything I can do to put diff lockers in my rr 2004 td6 IV spoken to ARB who said they need 150 people willing to buy them before they will do it so I'm guessing g that's off the cards ..... So is there any diff from a disco or anything g else X5 what will do the trick??

Thanks all

Why would you need these on a FFRR? This car will go anywhere and further than most people can imagine as it is! If you're getting into lockers etc, then you want to do some serious things and should maybe have bought a defender!

Welcome by the way! Curious to know why you were looking into these? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Mostly becuase no one really done it !!! But I plan to make it into a real expedition wagon as it's bloody comfy so long journeys would be awsome and well they are capable but if they were perfect offload like defenders lr wouldn't have given them a rear e locker in the newer rr's my view is I want them for incase I need them as I'm doing an England to Asia trip as some point in the feature, so far it's got plans for custom bumpers and rock sliders under tray and half expedition half flat roof rack plus roll protection.

Not just easier fitting the locking diff from a supercharged in the rear?

As for the front ... no idea. But as said above, in the past where lockers did the job cause there was no traction control, more modern traction control systems such as the L322's can get you a long way towards that effect without the need for a locker. V8 or else ...

Razorric. I really wouldn't bother. Spend the money on an IID tool and a decent set of offroad biased tyres. I've seen the following fatty in action and it didn't struggle at all as the TC cuts in, locks the spinning wheel and off you go.

When driving in deep snow I was not impressed the performance of TC. It activates only when one wheel has already lost traction. Evil or Very Mad I compared the difference with my -99 P38 before and after ATB diffs in both axles and difference was notable. TC had hardly any work to do after those were installed. Wouldn't hesitate a minute to have ATB diffs in my L322. Only if I could find them. Confused -08 3.6 Vogue

I thought the centre one locked on its own if it needed to.....

Imagine you could fit a diff from one with electronic locking rear diff but might need to check and have coded to the car or like tell it it’s there. Imagine it has a control module?

As to proper after market manual lockers I have no idea. Must be possible though....

I believe that the TD6 had different ratio axles to the rest of the L322 range... So that wouldn't be as straight forward as it sounds... Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I would imagine if you fitted a diff locker, this would confuse the hell out of the TC system! Maybe even causing damage?

Surely you would need a module of some sort to tell the car not to fight against itself?

It shouldn't get confused. There would be just be a lot more traction, so the the TC would not sense wheel spin so often & therefore have less work to do.
Many Disco 2 owners fit centre diff locks ( including me) for a similar, but not so big, benefit because LR had decided Electronic TC was enough & had deleted the centre diff lock they'd previously fitted to the Disco 1. Paul,

Old thread but what can the IID Tool do to improve off-road traction? I have an '11 I am trying to build into my wheeling rig. Already have an xlifter and 32ish KO2s but I came here looking for locker solutions.
