United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover HSE SDV6 Santorini Black
Oil level

Hi

Newbie here - please be gentle.

Just bought my first RR and love it. Few weeks in and still struggling to check the oil level which is very worrying!

It just says "not available" even after waiting 20 mins, bonnet open, door open etc. Also tried hitting the Canc button twice to override as previous posts.

Am thinking the sensor may be knackered which raises a few questions if I may :

1/ Will a low oil warning light come on - assume not!
2/ Is there any other way to check the level ?
3/ How much is it likely to set me back to repair?
4/ Can I retrofit a dipstick?

Thanks in advance
J

Mine takes ages to give a reading, thought it was broken too.

I'm led to believe the GAP tool can give a level reading.

United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

Hi j7nno, welcome to FFRR.com,

This thread may help: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic56693...=oil+level

Or this:

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic70578...navailable

However, I had the exact same fault on my MY2017 TDV6 when I purchased it, someone had unplugged it during servicing! Maybe get yourself an OBD tool and scan for DTC’s in case there are electrical issues, before assuming it’s the sensor. Many on here use the iiD diagnostic tool, it’s expensive but will pay for itself in time, you may be lucky to get one used for about £300 in the forum for sale section.

Good luck with finding the fault Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
