I'm looking into changing the rear timing belt on the ff. £700 at the indies but I fancy having a go myself because : (A) I'm a tight &@#% and (B) I hate putting my car into the garage.
I intend to do it as per the manual by locking the crankshaft and the fuel pump before changing the belt. I wonder, when the pulleys and belt are marked, so everything should be the same, if some unscrupulous Mechanics might just change the belt without removing the starter to fit the timing pin.
"Elderly gentleman with his hand trapped down the back of a Range Rover engine, cut free by Fire Brigade" might make a good headline.
