4.4 TDV8 EGR Temp Sensor A replaced but P040D fault remains

After purchasing the GAP tool I found the P040D fault was the only one that was continually present. After reading the threads on here about its replacement I decided to have my stealer replace it.

Interestingly the stealer recommended that I do not bother, stating that LR recommends to ignore it as the fault is likely to persist regardless of how many times the sensor is replaced but I asked for them to do it anyway.

On collection the mechanic showed me the old sensor and where the wire had been crushed which he thought was probably the cause of the sensor failure.

However after clearing the faults I was disappointed to see that the still reappears after each clearance.

Unsurprisingly the stealer's stance was basically "I told you so".

Has anyone else had this advice from their LR dealer? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

it's possible the replacement is faulty, suggest buy another sensor, plug it in to the harness then see if the fault is still there. Cheers, Greg
