Hi Guys,

I bought my fatty 8 weeks ago and the one thing i did not test as i was checking everything else was the radio.

Anyway after a few costs and moving forward i decided to take the head unit, amp and subwoofer out, as this was all that was in the car.

I purchased a seperate amp, subwoofer and a carpuride pro103 as recommended by LRParts.

Well lets just say his youtube video is a load of cobblers, i honestly do not know how he is managing to power it up and not have interference or issues with it.

What i need to know is the best location on the rear fuse box to take a switched/ignition feed from, i have a piggyback fuse currently in fuse F17 in the picture for the cigarette lighter but i get interference through the speakers.

i have the amp wired as follows
Positive 12v from the red power supply wire on fuse board
Ground from the bolt on the chassis near the spare wheel
Ign/switched 12v from the piggy back fuse in F17

I have the head unit then wired
Ign/switched 12v wire in the switched 12v amp wire
Ground into the amp ground wire

The sub is then powered
Positive 12v from the fuse box red wire feed
Ground from the chassis bolt near the spare wheel
Ign/switched 12v from the ign/switched 12v amp


I have attached a picture of a fuse box the same as mine and also the sticker on my fuse box showing fuses.

Any help i would be extremely grateful.

So quite a few of us has installed one of these https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic67466.html (not exact, but very similar) units, albeit with the existing HU/AMP and have not heard of any complaints re. interference.

How are you getting the audio from the unit to the amp ? if it's a long 3.5mm aux this is possibly introducing a ground loop.

The original kit came with a bluetooth receiver which i had in the back but the connection was not the best, so i have had run from the aux port in the back of the head unit to the amp a 3.5mm jack with red and white rca on.

I strongly suspect a ground loop; is there any portable mp3 player/phone that you can use to test the amp with an audio signal to see if the interference still persists ?

Just plug the 3.5mm jack from the HU to the mobile device, not exactly sure what signal causes your amp to turn on etc...

We are going way off the subject here, I’m looking for a fuse I can piggy back off instead of the cigarette lighter.

I suspect you’ll still have issues if you use another 12v feed and earth point. There are a few RF filters built into the factory setup before the amp and radio unit. A ground loop suppressor should fix your issues.

Not sure what this is or how I would fit one any idea please?
