Testbook

Had FF in stealers earlier in the week to get a couple of bits and pieces activated.

when i got home had my window open so as usual went to lock car and put window up with remote. door locked, but no window movement!!

had it back in yesterday for them to sort this out. after 1.5 hrs and a lot of huffing and puffing, they think it requires a software upgrade to sort this out.

they sent a message with all the details to L/R and said they should receive a file back with the relevant cure.

has anyone ever had an issue like this before?

i would have thought that if it's in the user handbook as an option to be activated by the dealer it should really work without any extra upgrades!! Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

i've always had this feature so cant help re the activation bit....but if you had it before you went into the dealer then it sounds that when they activated and ticked the box for those things ,they forgot to tick this feature as well..

that's what i thought, but they said they put both their testbook units on the car and couldn't get it to activate again.

chief sparky said they have had a few issues of late with things like this and L/R just send a file via email which they upload to testbook and download to my car and hey presto all should be well again.

not my money they are spending so it just needs fixing now so it all works as before them touching it. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

It does seem that the steelers are totaly cluless over most of this. All any of thees things need is the correct algorythm. The problem is that the muppet in the workshop has no concept of what is going on and even less idea how to sort it.
I blame the manufacturers for failing to train the staff but at the same time guarding the acces codes.
All of them are just a tick in a box and a reset to factory for when it goes pear shaped. letters not necessarily in the right order

just to carry on my tales of woe.. Sad

my front park sensors have stopped working now too, they were ok on friday before it went into the garage.

is it possible that they have screwed these up as well?

the rears work perfectly, the light above the button doesn't flash and the sensors don't click, they are totally dead.

just getting a bit fed up now. car was perfect before i took it in to stealers, now getting electric gremlins.. Mad Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

just an update really. FF booked into stealers next week for them to hopefully sort it all out at their expense may i add!!

took it to the independant garage that i bought it from yesterday for him to put it on his autologic.

the funniest thing happened... it didn't read any faults, even though the front sensors don't work. it reads all four front and rear sensors, we turned the switch on on the dash with autologic, activated the light and made the rears beep, but absolutley nothing from the fronts. they all have the same reading front and rear except when you walk behind the rears the reading drops like it should.

the guy in the garage was stumped!! he thinks that L/R have removed a file or something silly and not known they have done it. well next week is D-Day for them to put right everything that is not working properly since they laid their hands on it.

does anyone have any ideas about the front sensors? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

The PDC ECU's die at the drop of a hat. Maybe find one with working front and rear sensors and swap the ecu's over. You need to rule out the ECU before worrying about the sensors/wiring.

Don't worry about your ABS ECU - sounds like they are just trying to screw you for some extra cash next time you come in!

Do you leave your A/C on all the time? It removes the moisture from the air, turning it off can lead to various electrical gremlins... Including failing ECU's.

no the A/C isn't on all the time, i will try using it a bit more.

just seems funny to me that the rear works but the front doesn't. surely yet again the autologic would pick up a fault??

where is the PDC ECU located? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

stu, not guaranteed to work but, a battery disconnection for a few hours sometimes reboots the ecus and clears any problems, but dont forget to re-set the the steering parameters by turning the steering wheel full lock left then right when the battery is re-connected....

The PDC ECU lives in the boot, behind the right panel. You need a copy of the workshop manual, check the WiKi out.

I've gone through 3 PDC modules - the rear doesnt work in my new one either now Evil or Very Mad If thr ECU doesnt realise it is faulty then it wont store a fault code for you.

well back to stealers for third time this morning... Crying or Very sad

collected it this afternoon and was told that it had had a software upgrade. my windows and roof open and close again from the remote and my front park sensors work too, seems like all systems are go again... Very Happy

being the compulsive fiddler that i am i was experimenting with the voice control again on the drive home and i managed to turn the display on and off via voice commands, can't remember being able to do this before, must be part of the software upgrade.

anyway third time lucky!! Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
