My first Range Rover. I've always fancied the V8 with a supercharger and decided that I ought to get one before they are no longer available.

So I picked this up from a dealer some way away from me.



The car drives superbly and I am enjoying it very much. Paint was in good condition for the age, so I took it to a local detailer to add a ceramic coating to keep it shiny for longer. He pointed out the paint protection film on the front bumper and bonnet and all of the black plastic trim above the waistline.

Very very nice!

Her words were that V8s were not suitable for roofboxes.

I had a google and see that this is the case for V8 defenders. I wonder if that has inadvertently tarred other V8 LR vehicles with the same brush?

I spoke to my local dealer, gave them the VIN and they were heappy to sell me the roof bars.

Having had one on a previous car, they start making a hideous screaming noise at not much above 90 mph. I'm confident that they wouldn't be good at the limited top speed of 155 mph.

They are probably just covering themselves incase anyone does 155 mph with a roof box which I suspect wouldn’t be a happy ending! Just stick below 90 and it should all be ok - it’s a big thing to have on the roof at excessive speeds… 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Yes, OK, fair point, thank you. Perhaps I will try to find something definitive in case of a roadside discussion or, if needed, change my plans.

I've had a look at roofboxes, to see if I can find anything written down. Nothing in the handbook.

On the Land Rover accessories page, they will happily sell me a roofbox for a Range Rover without comment. They do point out that it is TUV approved. I've just checked and my old non-Land Rover roofbox is also TUV approved. I seem to remember that the Swiss and Germans aren't allowed to add anything to their cars unless TUV approved.

On the Defender accessories page it says:

For 90, 110 and 130.
Not available on V8.

And furthermore: OCTA vehicle cannot be driven in OCTA mode with any roof load.

In the Defender handbook it suggests not driving above 80mph with the roofbox on, which seems like good general advice.

So, I'm reading it that roofboxes are allowed on V8 Range Rovers, but not V8 Defenders. If I get stopped, I'll report back.

the v8 petrol body should be the same as the diesel versions so i cant see what the problem could be...

it cant be the potential speed of the v8 petrol cos diesels also shift well.. ... - .- -.

The only thing I've read relates to opening the roof with a box on, apparently you cant. Doesn't detract from the fact that you have a stunning car. Geoff

I’m looking for rubber mats inc boot, can you share a link for what you bought ?

I bought a boot mat secondhand from ebay, but it was the one for executive seats and with the bit that also goes in the cubbyhole on the driver's side. I think the part number is VPLGS0437.

I bought a full set of rubber Range Rover mats from , I think, Duckworth. I can't find the invoice, but I think part number was VPLGS0443PVJ. These were fine, but the driver's mat didn't cover the carpet under the pedals. I also bought the Discovery 5 commercial rubber mat set (VPLRS0663), which has a a rubber mat that covers the carpet under the pedals and the footrest. Only difference is all the other mats have a little Range Rover ingot, while the driver has one that says Land Rover.
