Oil level

I checked the oil on my 4.4 and have the following in the picture does she require 0.5 ltr oil oil or more due to it showing less than halfway the site wouldn’t let me down load the picture 🤦🏽‍♂️. Thanks in advance Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Not sure what’s in the picture…but why not add 0.5L and then re-check level ?
It’s easier to add to these engines rather than remove if you don’t have a vacuum pump

The oil level indicator usualy tells you how much to add. Better to put in a bit too much than too little. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Was that with a cold engine or 20min post shut down? When cold, it should read 2 notches above mid way. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Personally i am in the “better a little under than overfilled” camp…

Sorry for the late response it’s one notch under halfway. But it would take more than 0.5ltr to bring it back up I’ll give it a go thanks again 👍

It’s 2 liters between empty and full on dash gauge. So adding 0.5L will get you a 25% increase to 75%, which will be fine. It doesn’t have to be full.

The warning you get from the instrument panel when the oil level reading is over 'Full' is not something to ignore.
Sure, if you know it's only 1/2 a liter or less it's not going to be a problem.
In general, too much engine oil is not that good. 2012 4.4TDV8
