Air Compressor clutch - 0x1d compressor clutch driver fault | |
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with my Air Con issue on my 2006 4.2SC...
1) New Condenser April '23 (Advanced Factors)
2) New Compressor April '23 (Sanden so OEM from Island 4x4)
3) New 'O' on the pipes into the Compressor
After installing all of the above and getting it leak tested /re-gassed all was well until a few months ago and approx 4000 miles when I started to get only mildly cool air through the vents. I then forgot about it and didn't use the Air Con button.
I've only just had time to investigate the issue over the last week.
1) I had it connected up to the machine again and it took 600g out instead of around the expected 625g - no real concern there though.
2) No leak(s) detected either after leaving it for a couple of hours on a vacuum test.
3) Whilst the system was empty I then changed the 'O' rings for new genuine LR ones on the air con pipes that connect to the Compressor (high and low).

1) Refilled it with 625g with the correct amount of air con oil
2) Left it for over 2hrs - no leaks visible (it has dye in the air con oil) and the machine showed it was keeping a vacuum but sill no Air Con.
Plugged in my IID Tool and got -
0x30 Air quality sensor line fault

I took the old one apart as I'm nosey... gave it a quick clean up with MAF cleaner, plugged it back in but it still didn't work...

So, I swapped the sensor out for a secondhand one off eBay and the error has stopped -
...but still no cold air so I ran the IID Tool again and got -
0x1d compressor clutch driver fault

Mmmm - Compressor issue which was worrying as the Sanden is about 15 months old and wasn't cheap..
1) Pressing the Air Con button engage's the clutch on the Compressor - the 'plate' moves and spins as expected and stays on. It also stops when the air con button is pressed again to turn it off. I can hear and see this happening.
2) Relevant Air con pipes do not get cold with the clutch spinning
3) Checked fuse 12 and 56 - both fine but re-seated then anyway
Any further tests I can do ?
1) Could the internals of the compressor be dead ?
2) Any relays / other fuses I can check ?
Thanks for getting this far and any guidance greatly appreciated Gavin
