P400 MHEV

Hi,has anybody had any experience of the P400 MHEV. Driving and engine charatceristics, general day to day usage and overall satisfaction. Is the 3.0 ltr. straight six any good? Any problems with it. Thanks.

Bit of a duplicate post for me but also interested too. Either this or a 5.0, 2019 or later. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

We look after a few P400's. They have all at some point flashed up an EML for the VVT solenoid

Done a set of rear shocks on one. Hideously expensive, and HV battery needs raised to access top fixings, made even worse as it had executive seating. Not a fun job Laughing

Otherwise, just the usual wear and tear of a typical 405

Best mpg we've seen from them is 86mpg. He charges it at night, that gets him to work and mostly home on EV alone.
Economy is almost on par with a 5.0 SC if you use it on dino juice alone Thumbs Up

My experience of the P400 MHEV:

Touch wood I've had zero issues with mine so far although Ive only done 10,000 miles.

It's plenty fast enough for a car of this size (5.6 0-60) with good torque (twin turbo plus an electric supercharger) and it never feels underpowered, the only time I've used sport mode is the obligatory exit from French toll booths Laughing

You get mid 20's on short runs but can get mid 30's on the motorway without driving like a granny, this coupled with the larger fuel tank gives you a great range for long journeys.

On the down side its not seat of your pants quick throughout the whole range and the sound of the engine isn't anything to get excited about but for me I wasn't really looking for those things from this vehicle.

If economy / tank range is not of any importance to you and prices are not much different I would probably go for the 5.0 supercharged, you don't hear of many issues with that engine and I think there are probably more 5.0 for sale over the P400 so you may get more choice for the spec you are looking for.

When I ordered I think the difference between the engines was about £5K, that coupled with the reduced tank range due to MPG meant it wasn't worth it for me.

Happy to answer any other questions if needed. Thumbs Up 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB
