Rear shock absorbers- has anyone changed them?

Hey all - a friend has a bad fluid leak from the passenger side rear shock yesterday and have just ordered 2x replacements which should hopefully arrive soon!

Has anyone DIY’d these before? I’m happy to get stuck in and have done most things on the drive, have access to air/power tools but would be good if anyone has any top tips !

I found the LR guide which is helpful but basically says unbolt!

Cheers!

It’s a very simple job. Main issues are safely jacking / supporting the rear and having a spare jack under the arms to help align the bolts. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks JayGee - yep I’ve had the fun of getting it all secured when doing rear pads and discs a few months ago - but thankfully can get it up and stable, nice to know it’s simple cheers !

To makes things easier, pull back the rear passenger seat using the yellow knob to fold it all the way back on itself, that way you can lift the carpet without cutting into it to remove the top bolts of the shock, and just makes it a bit easier when you climb in Smile

Took us 30 mins to do, but we had the luxury of a ramp

I had to take a photo of how long the bottom bolt was

but for once a nice n easy job, we also used a stand / jack to support the bottom of the shock, as Jaygee mentions Smile
