I have done approx 6000 miles/21 months in my 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 and in that time the oil and filter has been changed 3 times. I only use high quality C1 5w 30 oil and oem filters.

I don’t really do any short journeys as have other cars for my short commute to work and the shops. I do tow a caravan a few times per year but only to the Norfolk coast so 60 to 90 mins each way and I always take it really easy as I love the car and won’t put it under too much duress!

Is 2k to 3k per oil change excessive or do others do similar? The car is so clean inside and out I would like to keep it purring for another decade hence the frequent oil changes.

I’m doing 3k changes in mine, better safe than sorry.

I asked a similar question to this in another thread and the general consensus was that as many oil changes as you want to spend money on is fine. I personally go for a minimum of 3 per year even though I barely scratch 5000 miles in that time.  _______________________________________________
