5.0lt V8 S/C Advice

Hi folks,

Currently in an old (2011) and tired (152k miles) Disco 4 which needs a good few £k maintenance on it in the next few months (propshaft, driveshaft, heater matrix, tyres at a minimum).
Love the car but don't want to spend thousands on it and still have the underlying concern of the crankshaft snapping.

This has led me to looking longingly at a Range Rover for sale over here (Jersey) as a replacement.
I'm interested to hear people views on the early 405's

Details are:
5.0lt Petrol V8
Autobiography Spec
Late 2013
56,000 miles

I've done a bit of reading and i believe that this year wasn't affected by the suspension strut failure but the pre 2015 cars can be prone to a whole host of electrical issues.

Appreciate it is an 'old' car, so will need a certain amount over and above servicing spending on it each year, but from what i'm reading there aren't really any major terminal issues such as the crankshaft on my current Disco 4. Is that correct?

Any advise or opinions will be greatly received.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover SVAutobiography 5.0 SC V8 Orkney Grey

Afternoon JerseyRover,

I run a 2013 L405 5.0 Supercharged and mine has been bullet proof, and I have have done three times that mileage, The only things that I have had issues with above regular service are as follows;

1. Timing chains @ 100k+
2. Earthing point @ 100k+
3. Wheel bearings @ 100k+
4. Alternator @ 100k+

I have kept up with full MD service.

I also have a 2016 5.0sv 565bhp and that also has been bullet proof.

Just look out for things like, drain points in sunroof, airbag light on passenger seat, also mine wasn't affected by suspension issues but dealer changed for added peace of mine foc under warranty.

Good luck with your search.

I am sure others will chip in.

DrF

Thanks for the reply.

That's reassuring to hear, i'm guessing the fact that you kept the 2013 whilst also getting a 2016 SV points to you being a fan of them Very Happy
