Service Required Message -Quick Question

Hi does the service required message (spanner) stay on constantly or can it be intermittent? I’ve had it come on and disappear, and then come on and disappear a few weeks later. I’m going to change the oil and filter but was just wondering if it is normally constantly on when the car is telling you it’s due?

Thanks

Pete

Mine seems intermittent, at least initially. It's checking oil quality/dilution, so I guess there might be slight variations around the sensor ?

I did my oil & filter yesterday - probably the easiest oil change I've ever done - once you have the right tools. I already had a pump, but bought a 36mm socket.

Laughing About 10L came out which seems consistent with some other reports - it's the first time I've changed the oil on a FFRR so wasn't entirely sure what to expect..... the 'paper' oil filter was a surprise to me, I thought I'd ordered the wrong thing Embarassed

I have this with mine and the culprit is oil dilution. An oil change will indeed fix it. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Oil Dilution

I am curios to know why this service light comes up for the oil change Confused .
I take the view that the oil should be changed every 6000 miles with a diesel engine On my 2015 V8 I had a full service last January at 71,000 miles with service light for oil change at 76,000 (5000 interval ) Fiar enough but this year service at 82,123 then service light on at 84887 (2,700 later) for an oil change . I have done less miles and tried to avoid short trips.
Is this down to the incorrect oil ? I am not convinced about synthetic oil but that is the engine specification.
Would an engine additive prolong this service interval ? I have used in the past Molybdenum disulphide branded as Molyslip with great success prolonging engine life but apprehensive about using in using it in this engine .
My garage ( independent specialist ) said that Hendy's have one client in every 1,800 miles for an oil change .
Any thoughts on this would be welcome.

I think 'Service' is a generic term for these purposes. It doesn't necessarily mean a full service, but rather that the car has detected something is due.

I had the same thing recently, and the topic is >>here<<, we concluded it is oil dilution. Its in today having an oil change and the ever sticky electric steps lubricated. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
