Upgrade Headlamps/Headlights Pixel experience | |
I have searched for headlamp upgrade instructions/process information since first purchasing my L405. After 6-12 months of data gathering I have finally found a headlight source that I don’t feel is too drastically expensive. I have also studied my CCF to find any information that may be related to the headlights. The following is my experience and is not to be construed as instructions from anything more than a fellow L405 owner and in no way an expert or representative of any kind.
The below worked for me but I do not suggest the same will for sure work for anyone else. Attempt the below at your own risk.
Objective:
Upgrade headlights from NA-Low non-Matrix headlamps to Pixel (NA-High)
My vehicle:
2019 Land Rover - Range Rover - L405 (Long Wheel Base) - Petrol - V8 - Supercharged.
Although this should work to the best of my limited knowledge on (some 2017 initial facelift models) 2018 - 2021 (including some 2022) L405s
My vehicle came with NA-Low (non-Matrix/Pixel or Laser) headlights.
Required parts:
- Headlamps/Headlights High - Pixel
- Gap IID G4
- 10MM socket plus extensions and handles
- 8MM Socket
- Philips Screw driver size-P2
- Flathead screwdriver

Price I paid - USD $1,400 + Shipping $350 = Total $1,750 shipped to MN USA
Headlamps showed up in approximately 10-14 days. Well packed and without damage. The seller was a bit obsessed with validating that my L405 was post facelift but otherwise no issues.

Limited Instructions: (If you are unfamiliar with any of the steps below you should do more research to make sure you are comfortable enough with working on your vehicle before proceeding.)
1. Disconnect the Negative battery terminal
2. Remove the front bumper. (Yes, you can replace headlights without full removing the bumper but it is FAR simpler to remove the bumper).
3. Remove the 5 fasteners from each headlamp. (Mine had 4 10MM fasteners. 3 of the 100mm fasteners accessible from the front and 1 10mm fastener and 1 8MM (with Phillips head) accessible from behind the lamp.
4. Remove the connector from the rear of the lamp
5. Remove the headlamp
6. Replace with Pixel headlamp
7. Repeat on other side.
8. Replace the bumper.
9. Re-connect the negative battery terminal
10. Connect the GAP iiD tool and select CCF
11. Update the following CCF settings as follows: (Note; All of these settings MAY not be required, but these are the ones which I have used and believe them to be the correct settings without any extra settings)
* T5-156 Exterior Lights 4 - Static Bending Lamps = Enabled
* EUCD-014 Headlights, Type = Pixel LED AFS123/IHB
* MultiCAN-636 AdaptDrvBeam = AdaptDrvBeam Enabled
* MultiCAN-637 HeightInputSelection = Height via CAN
* MultiCAN-679HeadlightsVariant = Headlamp_Variant_High_A
* MultiCAN-693 ADB Initialisation = Fitted
* MultiCAN-704 Adam Dry Beamseg = 24 Segments
If anyone has any advice/updates/suggestions please feel free to let me know.
My results were that the headlamps worked as designed and as expected. Approaching traffic was hidden in a moving shadow as well as any traffic going the same direction.
