Forced DPF Regeneration using Gap iid.

I have been asked for more details as to the procedure of performing a forced DPF Regeneration using the Gap iid tool.

The GAP iid tool has to be updated to software version Beta 2765, which is only available by contacting Pat at Gap.

From The Main Menu… select ..Service/ Test.
…………….then. PCM Engine.

Then..

The process displays as follows, once the car is up to temperature and speed exceeds 40mph.
The display changes from Red to Green as the process proceeds.

The speed on these screen grabs is showing Zero because I had to pull into convenient lay-bys to take the pictures.
The regen halts, but restarts automatically once the speed exceeds 40mph again.

Once the soot level falls (in my case down to 0.6g ) stop the engine and press the Quit word at the bottom of the screen.

The whole process took approximately 12 miles, travelling 50 / 55 mph.

I then rechecked using Live values as normal.

Can you see the live values without the beta version of the tool?

Reason I ask is because i cannot see any PCM engine values on Live Values at all.

**UPDATE**
Seems the orientation of the apple device causes some of the menu items to become invisible. If I rotate my iPad to portrait I can see them all now.

In landscape mode loads of them disappear.

I had a 50+ miles trip to do this morning, so I decided to do a forced regen.
Start of journey

Then I activated regen.

I got caught in heavy traffic through a 40mph section of road works…

But it kept saying “Regen in progress” despite me constantly having to slow and break, etc.

Until I finally got home and pressed quit.
Then displayed “live values”

It doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as sensitive to throttle changes as a normal regen and works over shorter distances.

It might use a bit more fuel, judging from the oil contamination figure at the start and end. ???

This is great news slash finally.

Process sounds like it works in a similar way to my DA-DPF Tool i.e. far less particular about driving conditions / regeneration no matter what almost .

This was the only thing the IIDTool didn't do so now it really is the Swiss army knife of OBD

. Cheers, Greg

Cheers Mike , yes he emailed back instantly, fantastic service as usual. Firmware updated now too. I don’t have a huge amount of fuel in the car, can I fuel up after I press go? Garage is 1 mile away.
Thanks again Thumbs Up

Mr Tee,
I would definitely go and get fuel before attempting to force the regen.

Also I would have a good look at the plenum hoses to check for splits, because it is very rare to go straight to RED.

My wife's Ewok went straight to a red DPF Full warning.

Turned out it needed a software update so amber warning would show.

So it's possible the same might be true in this case. What do I put here then?

Well just back, worked like a charm. Started at just over 32g, after 25 miles was down to 2.7g. If anyone has a link to an idiots guide to checking what pipes etc before a smoke test that would be greatly appreciated.

Because yours is an L405, it will have the later modified hoses, so much less likely to be a problem.

I would just run it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.
You should expect 250- 400 miles before you reach the regen threshold around 19.5g soot level.

If it does alarm earlier, at least you know you can clear it again, then worry about the cause.

Mr. Tee,
How has it gone? since you forced your soot level down into single figures.
