TDV8 Engine Bay Clean

I am finding it difficult to find anywhere within 50 miles of me ( Stansted M11 area ) a proper engine clean company who know what they are doing, I don't want it jet blasted to hell, and all the possible problems that could follow on from that (possibly electrics etc)

There is oil laying in the many crevices around the engine from past oil leaks, so would like to remove the old oil that must be hardened on by now I reckon. I have used my Karcher K5 but it's very difficult to aim the lance into the areas where I think the old oil has accumulated over the last ten years Sad

They are far tougher than you think...

Fatty off roader used to get jet washed off on a near weekly basis, soak it all in TFR then a good high pressure clean, nothing masked up or avoided, never had any water ingress issues for the years I had it, apart from drowning it halfway up the doors in a river, when it dried out it was fine though...!!!... They build them to go wading so all the delicate bits are either in a sealed box or inside the passenger compartment... Far better than your average car.... Thumbs Up Pete

+1 Thumbs Up with Pete!

Mine is 2012. Whenever I give the beast a proper clean I have used “Gunk” degreaser with a detail brush on the engine bay and plastics and jet washed washed off afterwards with no issues. I would say to be mindful how strong you jet in the engine bay but a ‘lighter misting/jet’ than normal seems fine.
I do then always run the engine asap afterwards to be sure it’s all good! Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up Cheers, Steven.

Found this guy in UK doing a engine bay clean on his L322, not sure of the engine type. (47.44min)

What do you guys think, is this a safe method for a 4.2 and should the engine be warm or cold when doing an engine clean?

got my previously owned td6 a bit dirty on salisbury plains and stood on a chair and pressure washed the engine bay with the engine running.
all still worked after so i guess i was lucky water didnt get into the bits that mattered.
