Tailgate / rear facing dash cam.

I have a front facing dash cam. A lady recently drove into the back of me. My front camera catches my car nudge forward in stationary traffic. But, can you believe that the lady claimed that I reversed into her! Time for a rear facing camera! I’m going to buy a Nextbase W300, the same as the front one. I’m assuming there is power in the tailgate as there are the two courtesy lights that come on when open? Is it easy to find the power to splice into?

Any advice appreciated.

Regards,

Terry

Generally your front and rear cameras are connected together and the rear camera is a slave, this ensures that images are synchronised. I use the VIOFO ones and they are great quality 2011 L322 Autobography - a lot of bells and some of the whistles...owner with no idea!

I have a Nextbase and it's running off the 12v socket on the right of the boot as it comes on and off with the ignition.

I was going to wire it into the rear fusebox using a piggy-back but I've never gotten round to it. Only other time I use that socket is if I've got the coolbox in there and then I just use a cigar lighter type splitter, Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster
