No sound from head unit!

I just bought an ‘04 vogue but it doesn’t have the satnav although it does have an amp in the boot.

When I picked the car up the radio worked fine but it has stopped producing sound - everything seemingly still works apart from the clock and phone buttons which never did work.

I bought an android unit from Amazon but because of the separate amp the wiring didn’t match up!

Any ideas where to start looking?

2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

Having been here many years ago with an early L322, I suspect your problem will actually be the amp as these suffer from all manner of woes in the boot over time due to condensation seemingly collecting there; I used to keep a couple of those mini drying crystals packs on there to reduce the problem.

There's a guy who goes by the name of Baris on a number of BMW forums who is very good at fixing / upgrading these early amps and he is based in Enfield.

His website is looking decidedly old now and has a 404 on one of the pages, but last time I called him (regarding an e39 BMW, so similar technology), he was still carrying out repairs and his number is at the header of this page:

As regards the Android head unit, I'm sorry but I can't help other than to suggest that you would need an additional harness for it to work in an L322 of your age, even assuming the amp was working correctly, or run direct wires to the speakers from the back of your head unit.

Others may be able to help more. Good luck! 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDv8

Thanks for the reply!

I think I’m just going to leave the original unit in place and fit another stereo in the glove box?!

I quite like the look of the standard radio!
