I was looking for a late V8 but ended up getting a V6 as I really struggled to find the right V8 in the spec/price I wanted. I decided to get a V6 and look for a run out model V8 in the near future. I'm happy with the V6. Super smooth and very willing but not overly fast if that's what you're after. It has no problem with keeping up with any sort of motorway speed driving. It feels very different to the driving experience of my previous D4.

I have had 3 diesel V8s now and would not change them for the world. Lovely and refined engine that pulls like a train. Very reasonable mileage especially on motorways / longer runs. Later models seem a little slower than my first one but that might just be my old age and middle aged spread kicking in...

I have test driven the V6 models and had a few on longer loan from JLR and just find them a little "revvy" if that makes sense? Make a lot of noise, get down the road okay but seem to be working ever so hard when the V8 just cruises along sedately with plenty in reserve.

I should mention, that I have gone DPF and EGR free with a remap and now get ~35mpg average with a mix of fast A roads, winding B roads and town driving. To me the mix of effortless power (I sometimes like to surprise 'performance' cars), sumptuous comfort and really quite amazing economy is unbeatable. Cam
