Australia 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue
EGR Clean

Hi, I have a 2008 L322 3.6TD8.
Where is the best location to spray in cans of Induction Cleaner?
From the air filter box outlets or directly into the Intercooler pipes?
So far I have been told both by different mechanics.
Or am I better off paying for a professional induction clean?

Why clean them when it's better to blank them and delete their function. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I've been told by a specialist around Sunshine Coast in Qld that the only way to do this properly is blank them off and send the computer to England to get it remapped properly. What a lot of people here call an EGR delete over here is just a shortcut and from what I gather it is illegal in Australia so have to be careful the way I would go about it. Our government now is looking at having a crack down on vehicle emissions control.

On the 3.6 you can just blank it without having to do anything with the computers as I did it on mine and I didn’t get any error codes and it ran very well after 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

Hi,

Has anyone measured the before and after EGR delete emissions on a fully working system with proper measurement gear as opposed to having it done post failure ?

I'm wondering how close to the emissions limit would you be having that work done, and how likely it were to face problems come MOT time, assuming you had them blanked and totally mapped out properly, not just hacked by the kid on the corner.

I'm assuming here that they do serve a positive emmisions function when working properly, so putting that moral dilema aside for a minute.

If you have the GAP IID tool you can buy a software download to delete the EGR function. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I'll have to look in to who can do this properly. Gympie is only like a large country town of around 55,000 population. Not many to chose from. Maybe Sunshine Coast or Brisbane I can find someone

I've not heard of any MOT emissions failures on the 3.6 after an EGR delete which is a pretty common procedure. Different matter on the 4.4. as it's Euro 5 vs 4 which has tighter NOX limits. No reason to do it on the 4.4 as the EGR's don't diintegrate and take out the turbo's and engine like they do on the 3.6 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hi,

OK, that make sense, all the talk is about the 3.6 although I did see around that a full 4.4 CAT, DPF, EGR delete (mapping & physically) can get you around 110 bhp & 120Nm but comes with the caveat that it can eat drivetrains for lunch.

I think I'll leave well alone, it's working fine and is fast & frugal enough for me.

SE Qld 3.6 TDV8 Specialist - remapping and EGR Delete

Hi, as I previously stated I live in Gympie, Qld. 160km north of Brisbane. Can anyone recommend a good technician in SE Qld who specialises in TDV8 remapping and EGR delete. I know there are a lot of cowboys out there who just tell me no remapping required and just blank them off. I guess it's ok for them to say this when they aren't paying the $35K or so for a rebuild after blowing up the motor. There must be a person / company out there who knows what they are doing.

Blanking plates stop EGR gases entering the intake. Nothing can go wrong and destroy your engine by doing this. The EGR valves are still operating so the main danger of them breaking up and killing the turbo’s still remains which is why it’s advisable to have them disabled which is an easy DIY job with a GAP IID tool (which you should own anyway if you have an L322) and a software add on. You don’t need a remapper ( cowboy or otherwise) and you don’t need to worry about £35k of repairs Wink 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks for that.
I don't suppose you have any recommendations for British companies that I could contact and get quotes and additional software add ons to purchase. I know a friend of mine with a Range Rover Sport bought his from England and very happy with the sales and service and delivery time. Without software add on the only company selling them at Sunshine Coast are charging $1,100 AUD for the unit without Add On
