Hot Weather Issues

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Range Rover 2016 SDV8 4.4 that only occurs in hot weather. After about 30 minutes of driving, the "D" sign on the dash starts flashing intermittently. Shortly after, I receive multiple error messages, including "Gearbox Fault" and "HDC Inactive," and the vehicle goes into limp mode.

Last year, I had the main earth point in the drivers wheel arch redone, with a new rivet drilled and everything bolted up securely. Despite this, the problem persists, but only in warm or hot weather. During cooler conditions, the car runs perfectly fine. Batteries are just over a year old and have been tested - all good there

I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this and would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to resolve it.

Thank you in advance for your help! 2016 Range Rover L405 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Just a thought....

Low oil in the gearbox and after a while in hot temps it overheats causing the fault...!

It does sound electrical though... there is an earth under both front arch liners, my offside was fine, my nearside looked fine but snapped off with the merest hint of a spanner...

Maybe worth checking both again, it's a cheap check.... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks for the suggestion Pete! I didn't know there were earth points in both wheel arches. I'll check those and see if that might be the issue. I'll also consider drilling a new earth point and using a rivnut to secure it properly to prevent future problems.

Cheers for the advice! 2016 Range Rover L405 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
