Anyone heading down to Le Mans?

Me and the Lad were lucky enough to win a couple of tickets to this years race, so I’ve broken out the Fattie and filled it with camping tat and we are off this afternoon to catch the race.

Should be good. It’s been 8 years since I’ve been and things have changed a bit. Plenty of new action this year with the hyper car class being quit nicely padded out!

If you see a black 405 with 24h stickers on it, it’s probably me….🤣 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Will do Thumbs Up

Much camping gear in the car, pretty stuffed full.
It’s a bit of an unplanned adventure as Avis only told us we had won a few week back. So it was a scramble to get some camping booked and a place on the Chunnel. We managed to get one of the last camping pitches off the Le Mans resale site, but it’s on Hippodrome which isn’t the best spot. Will have to see what it’s like when we get there!!

Naturally the tent hadn’t seen the light of day for several years so was as holy as the pope, and needed replacing. So the free tickets soon added up to a nice little spend 🤣. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

below is the map with fixed speed radars you can search per region. But take care there are a lot of mobile speed checks and "normal" cars with speedradars checking both directions.

take care use waze (on your phone) and have fun

NMJ, we camped at the Hippodrome in early 2000, not ideal for seeing the rest of the circuit but we sneaked past the rozzers and stood alongside the barrier at the Hunaudieres straight in the middle of the night with the cars whizzing past, quite something else.
Enjoy the race.

We were travelling back on the Sunday from Normandy.

All the kids were out on the bridges with cameras ready to take pics of the cars travelling home a little later. Plod was also deployed, hence the reason I allowed time to get to eurotunnel.

Met one group , camping, washed out by heavy rain and left early. They are going back next year as a great trip despite weather. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Was a great trip.

We missed the durning for Hippodrome and pulled into Epinettes….. showed the girl my ticket and she gave me a sticker for Epinettes, and told me Hippo was full. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway managed to get a pitch in a nice corner, between a couple of other groups of brits. Tent was a little large so we had to do some creative parking. Epinettes is not a bad spot, only a little bit further than Houx. We Walked miles, watched a lot of cars, headed to the Classic British Welcome in St Saturnin and generally had a good time.

Headed back Sun Am, and made it for a 2.00 crossing. Didn’t hit the loud pedal so no probs with the plod. just cruised down and back at 130kph.

They did stop folks leaving between 3 and 5 on Sun due to the rain, but we were ok, damp tent in car and all….
