Highest mileage sdv8s?

Hi all thinking of chopping my l322 4.2 for a 4.4 sdv8 l405.

My issue is initially I looked at 3.0 and there are so many with seized engines so looked at 4.4s and there seem to be more and more of these with knocking engines which made me wonder how high mileagewise have people got on these? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

There used to be a mileage thread somewhere.

Anyway, I've done 151k and still going strong. Hopefully not tempting fate, but it's cost me very little and been one of the most reliable cars I've ever had. I've only just changed the >10 year old original batteries - and they still seemed fine Shocked

Still only a couple over 200k - I am seeing more and more 4.4 failures on autotrader and eBay now nearly as many as 3.0 and 3x as many of those were sold Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

Well that thread was a while ago - I'm on there at 100k and currently on 151k.

Not many over 200k - are you referring to SDV8's specifically, or including the 4.4 TDV8 ?
The SDV8 is max 11 years old, so not surprising many haven't yet clocked 200k......

My 2015 4.4 SDV8 has 135k on the clock fully maintained and I think another 135k will be taken in its stride.

Amazing cars.

I've just sold my 2013 155k SDV8, which sounded perfect to me. No engine/turbo issues at all.

It helped that most of the miles were on a motorway and I changed the oil for a good 5W30 C1F every 8-10k miles. Current:
- 2017 L405 3.0 V6 Autobiography
Sold:
- 2013 L405 4.4 TDV8 Vogue
- 2004 L322 4.4 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 2002 L322 4.4 HSE (having fixed timing chain guides)
- 2000 P38 4.6 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 1981 2-door In-Vogue
- 1980 Ex-Army SIII LWB
- 1976 SIII LWB
- 1968 SIIA
Stripped for parts:
- 2003 L322 4.4 Vogue

I’ve only had my 2016 sdv8 for a few weeks but I am on 148K and running silently and sweet as a nut (please God, I’m not tempting fate, I promise 🙏)
Did some maintenance as soon as I got it such as oil changes, and this week an o ring on a coolant pipe and I cleaned the adblue system. Did a 420 mile trip last week, wow, this thing is on a different level (literally 😝) to anything else.

With that mileage & a new car to you, it may also be worth a gearbox flush. Search for Bodsy on here.

If you can feel it change gear, even slightly, then it probably needs doing. I didn´t realise that until after mine was done & then I could no longer feel anything as its shifted.
