Tailgate only partially opens from key fob

Recently when using the key fob to open or close the tailgate, it only partially opens, and takes 3 presses of the button to get it fully open, yet when I use the button inside the car or the button on the tailgate it opens fully. I have tried the recalibration of the tailgate, but no change when using the key fob.
