FBH take 2!

Can anyone point me in the right direction? New to me 405 Vogue SE, 2014, I didn’t get a handbook with it, had it in the garage yesterday, getting the air-conditioning re-gassed, I asked the mechanic if this vehicle has a fuel burning heater? Whilst the bonnet was up, he said yes, and pointed to a unit top left of the engine bay!
I’ve had a look through the computer and can’t see how I would control it! My old car had a remote, and also I could do a timed climate start time on the dash!

Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Fuji White

A lot of diesel vehicles have an FBH fitted to provide quicker engine warm-up to reduce emissions. I've owned several diesel BMWs, a couple of Mercedes Sprinters, a diesel Honda and an Audi which all had Webasto Thermo Tops (C and V versions) fitted for just that purpose.

They are controlled by the ECU and fired on demand to help modern, thermally efficient engines reach and maintain optimal operating temperatures.

Some manufacturers then sell an 'optional' extra of user control to allow cabin pre-heat and parking heater usage, but if the original buyer doesn't opt for that they just have the unit there doing its job invisibly in a way they cannot control.

Don't know for sure if that's the case with the L405, but it could well be. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
Previous V8s: BMW 645Ci, P38 4.6, P38 4.0, Merc CL500
Previous others: Honda x1, Volvo x7, Rover x6, BMW x6, Ford x1, Mercedes x2, Skoda x3, VW x2, Renault x2, Citroen x1, Mazda x3, Nissan x1, Audi x3, Kia x1, Fiat x4, Subaru x3, Austin x2, Triumph x2, Jeep x2, Hyundai x2, Lexus x1, Mitsubishi x1, Saab x2... and some others I've forgotten!

I'm slightly surprised your VSE doesn't have timed climate, it can be added by setting the correct flags in the CCF.
You should be able to add remote operation by the fob - the wiring may already be present, just needs the receiver plugged in, the remote paired with it and enabled in the CCF.
The CCF programming can be done with an IIDTool or similar.

The above is correct - the heater unit is there to assist with a quick warm up, but if you want manual control, then it needs to be enabled/added. There's a 'how to' on this thread Thumbs Up

Link to a handbook from the WIKI, it's a US version but most of it is the same... Thumbs Up

Chef - without going via IID, can you check the touch screen options you have. If you scroll to each screen, I think the last one, you should see a 'Timed Climate' option.

Click in to that to set the times when you want it to come on.

If you don't have that option, it might mean you don't have the feature - not sure if its deleted on US build cars i'm afraid. Ash

So managed to get my gap tool transferred today, thanks Patrick, and now realise that it’s there but only to warm the engine!
Following a thread on here, I will get the bits and get it to work the same as my L322 Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies guys! 2014 vogue se
