Leather restoration

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my experience with sorting out the wear to the leather on the driver’s seat bolsters. It was annoying me that the side and seat base bolsters were looking quite worn and especially as the remainder of the interior is like new so I thought I would have a go at using some leather refurbishment ‘paint’.

I found this on eBay:

I was slightly wary as to how good it could be and if it would be an exact match. I ordered the Land Rover Black from them as they claim it is a correct colour match.

So being a nice warm sunny day I had a go. I used a micro fibre cloth and applied 4 coats leaving about an hour between each coat.

Well, it is like magic! Completely restored all the worn bolster area and looks like new. Perfect colour match too.

I have no connection in any way to the product, just thought I would share my good experience in case anyone else found it helpful.

Annoyingly I never took any before and after photos!

Forgot to say….

The only prep I did was wipe down the leather with some IPA to clean off any dirt/wax etc before applying the colour.

Sadly no before photo's but you can imagine the usual wear to the bolsters. Here's the after photos:

I used the same product on the L405 Cirrus grey seats and was very pleased with the results. I bought some ivory off Ebay for my XK8 thinking it was Scratch Doctor but it turned out to be a different product and not nearly as good. Waiting for the proper stuff to arrive now. Rolling Eyes

I finally got round to it this week, so I thought I'd share a few photos. The instructions say it can take up to 4 coats, I've done 2 so far and the door arm rest is the easiest to photograph.

After 1 coat -

After 2 coats -

Needless to say, I'm happy Very Happy

I used the same stuff on my almond leather and was equally impressed and it has stood the test of time. Recommended. 2013 SDV8 4.4 Vogue SE Aintree

Just bought 250ml of Ivory to test out - the end of my arm rest is my main issue to resolve

It really is good stuff! I was sceptical at first but as I applied the coats I was amazed at how well it covered the wear and blended in.

Happy to say i ordered a bottle of LR black and LR Ivory for my Queen..

Ivory because of the dreaded green coming through the wear area on the inside door handle, and black because of a few scratches on the rear seat backrest as my staffie finds it very necessary to jump over from the boot area to the seat, with the occasional scuff..

Cannot wait...

I used a microfibre cloth to wipe it on with. Worked well with my finger wrapped in the cloth to do more detail areas.
