LR service intervals SDV8

My car is 7 years old with 41000 miles on the clock with a full main dealer service history. Why does LR say the servicing now has to be done annually yet I only do 6000 miles per annum yet when it was newer it somehow managed to only need a service every 15000 miles max?

As far as I know, it's 16k or annually - whichever comes first & regardless of age.

There are different schools of thought, such as only go by miles, wait for the car to tell you it needs a service etc. However, to claim FSH, I believe it would require an annual service regardless of mileage - from new.

The service sheets are here and confirm 16k or 12 months is the maximum time and distance.

If your car is Euro 6 and has a DPF, you’re likely to find the 16,000 miles could drop dramatically depending on whether you do long or short journeys. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Thank you for your responses, the car has been serviced at 1 year or 15000 miles so far, whichever came first so I'll continue this then. I thought the extortionate so and so's were just having me over.

I used an independent once I was out of warranty. I just get it serviced every year and MOT'd at the same time - makes it easier to remember Smile

Definitely should be yearly if you only drive low miles per year... Everything carries on degrading so for piece of mind most people want the car checked over by someone knowledgeable annually sir... Thumbs Up

I get mine serviced every year along with MoT, every August. I’m sad enough (organised?!) to put a reminder in my diary every 1 July to remind me to book it. I average about 8k miles per year and never had dilution issues.

LR say 16,000 miles or annually.

Mine has full LR history and it was done every 15,000ish also.

However, to prolong the life of an engine, it's best to change the oil and filter frequently. I change mine every 7,500 miles, or every 12 months (whichever comes sooner ‐ although I do about 1,000 miles a month, so it ends up getting done twice a year more or less). 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Take a look on YouTube on the LR Time channel. They covered this on Sunday. Low mileage is classed as arduous conditions especially lots of short journeys
