2007 TDV8 L320 Testdrive Air suspension

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and would like some advice please.

I went to test drive a 2007 L320 with the V8 diesel. Before i went for the test drive i asked for the keys to start the engine, no problem, I then tried the air suspension button, hoping to increase the height, initially only the rear wheels increased. Then i tried lowering it tonitsnlowest, again only the rear axle seemed to lower. The garage owner had a go, tried all the modes, revving the engine, not sure why, he tried lifting the car by the arches, then he took it for a short drive, when he came back all the wheels were at offroad height. All the low and high suspension modes worked fine from then on.

My question is, is this normal, if a 2007 RR sport has been sitting for a period of time, does the air suspension take a while to operate properly, or was this just salesman patter?
