2011 L322 Parking Brake Module Access

Hi All,

Has anyone cut a hole in the boot to access the Parking Brake Module? If so could you please let me know how you went about it.

Thanks.

Kevin

I have the same problem with mine. I’m at a point I’m considering scrapping it and buying an L405 but I really like my l322. It’s needed a parking brake module for a while but the subframe bolts looks seized. I’m guessing if you could use a cut a slot out big enough in the spare wheel well to get access. 🫣 it would possibly mean the difference between it staying on the road for another few years or being scrapped next month.

Hi All,

Just a quick update on the parking brake module issue. Mine was toast so a replacement was needed. Previous posts have highlighted just how difficult LR have made the module to access and replace, hence my initial post looking to get to it through the boot floor. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be possible so it was back to a significant specialist labour cost.

I investigated an after market part but they are not available from any UK factors which leaves main dealer or breakers. LR have the part listed for £1150 but helpfully they don'y have it in stock and cannot give a delivery time. Other suppliers may offer it for less but don't actually have it in stock. It is almost as if LR want good cars off the road forcing you to buy something new! Breakers are offering the part (generally for between £200-£300) but inspection of the photos doesn't inspire confidence that the available modules will last very long and given what is involved in changing it no one would want to do it twice.

Ultimately I took a chance on buying a part from AliExpress (China). There appear to be a number of after market offers but very few that have the word 'Genuine' in the item description. I found an auto engineering company that maintain they are offering refurbished genuine LR modules with a 2 year warranty (don't know how you'd go about claiming on that though) and they confirmed this in a presale email. The part cost me £310 including FedEx delivery and all import costs. Unbelievably it took just two days to arrive on my doorstep once it was dispatched - i can't get a local parcel delivered that quickly by Royal Mail. For anyone interested I will add the link at the end of this post, they list a higher price but always with a discount.

The refurbished module was effectively in 'as new' condition and after being checked by my local LR specialist, was considered to be a refurbished original part. He fitted the replacement module and my parking brake is now working fine and MOT approved. In my case the total part and labour cost was less than LR want for a new module (if they ever bother to supply them going forward).

Hope this helps if anyone finds themselves with a main dealers looking at upwards of £2500 for doing the same job.

Kevin
