Good evening from Western Europe,
Does anyone have experience with a leaky oil pump and how to re-seal the plug on top of it?
I had oil everywhere underneath the engine and was initially hoping it would just be the famous oil cooler gaskets and o-rings. I finished that job and the backside of the engine/bellhousing is now dry, but I still have fresh oil spreading from somewhere on the front of the engine.
Investigating with a boroscope the culprit seems to be the oil pump and I'm suspecting the plug shown on the picture to be the source. I tried to get to it by just removing the throttle body, but no luck.
Has anyone successfully removed and resealed it? if so, I would really appreciate a bit of a how-to guide. I was planning on re-sealing it with some liquid gasket and hope that would fixe the problem. Replacing the oil pump rubber seal seems to be a huge job according to the manual.
