Anyone know the purpose of this module?


It's located in the upper right side of the rear tailgate.

I think they're related to the radio aerial, interface modules, pre amps etc. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

I ask because i recently replaced my upper tailgate with a rust-free one from an earlier model. The latter tailgate did not have the provisions to install the right antenna/amp. Now, it might be unrelated, but after I installed the new tailgate without installing the right unit, my key fob only works intermittently, and it almost seems to be switching between receivers, as it always works first time in the morning, but rarely when i get out of the car at work. If I wait a few minutes, it works just fine. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway

This guy seems to have the same problem as you, seems to be water.
