United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover SVAutobiography 5.0 SC V8 Waitomo Grey

Good point! In fact thinking further, was it that they were all known simply as the 4.2SC rather than with trim packs? It was the thought that they were all fully loaded as standard that stuck with me rather than the badge. My badge was Supercharged (not AB or SE etc). Mike - MPx

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

So I've bit the bullet and just bought myself a 2011 vogue se 4.4 overfinch 111k. It's in black with black leather and like a suede roof lining. After driving it back from Stroud I think I did the right thing in not getting a supercharged, I will lose my licence in no time if I had bought one. The first time I've driven a 4.4 and I was doing 90mph and didn't even realise. I don't drive in to cities anyway so not really bothered about it being diesel.
It's got the rear entertainment, deployable side steps, leather parcel shelf.

It's got a few niggles, wipers don't go back into park probably needs a new relay, heater fan not working, probably a fuse but who knows. I'm going to book it in and have all the oils and fluids changed. Wheels could do with a refurb. But more than happy with it so far.

Ah sorry Dr Rob I didn't see your post until my last post. That would have been very tempting. Thanks anyway.

Nice one. Hopefully you’ll soon realise why I kept mine so long.

I think I already do mj. I don't really know much about the 4.4, anything in particular I should keep an eye out for that usually goes wrong with these beasts? I know about the oil cooler leaking, it hasn't been changed on mine as far as I'm aware. It was one of the first things I checked when I looked it over and no oil leak, as with the usual rust spots, rear arches and upper tail gate in which there is none.
The overall condition of the car is very very good, but not up to my standard but I don't mind that as I enjoy getting my car to how I want it.

I love the look of the rear end bumper. Do the exhaust gases actually come out the pipes or are they dummy pipes?

They are dummy pipes Kevin, the exhaust ends don't actually go that far back to reach them. On my other overfinch I was going to have a stainless exhaust fitted and to go through them but decided against it.

I was informed the towbar was fitted about a year ago and only towed with it twice. As I don't tow and think it looks unsightly I will be having it removed, so if anyone is after one you are more than welcome to it.

That’s the only “body kit” that I like on the L322. Very nice.

I know there is a thread with a list of issues on somewhere. To me it’s the oil cooler… leaks into coolant as well as down the rear of the engine…. Air con compressor valve is another issue, air con doesn’t come on or only after a few mins or after you rev the engine. Many folk replaced the xenon bulbs with LED along with the H7 main halogen bulbs and had good results.

The TDV8 has more torque than the supercharged, all down low and accessible. The Supercharged more power obviously. TDV8 top speed is limited to 130 but I read somewhere that it’s 147 unrestricted.

It just does everything well, I still can’t think of anything I want instead…. That I can afford anyway 🤣.

Good call on the tow bar. You could maybe keep the electrics tucked away as you can use that to charge the battery in an emergency….. or even just to attach a trickle charger.

The Aux sockets/cigar lighter sockets don’t stay live when the car is off… so don’t buy an electric cool box like I did to keep things cool when the car is parked 🤣.

Thanks for the info mj, probably right about keeping the electrics though for obvious reasons. I will be keeping on top of the maintenance as usual. Is it still worth changing the oil every 5k? I'm still trying to get used to having no gear stick selector, I keep going to move it lol.
I'm going to the Scottish Highlands on holiday in August and will be so looking forward to the drive up there in it. But I want it up to scratch before then and my private plate put on it. Hopefully I can get it booked in next week and leave it with them. Theres an Indy in Goodrich near Monmouth that has just invested in a gearbox flushing machine (same as bodsys), is it worth getting that done to you think?

I think ZF say 10 years for gearbox oil change, so if it’s not been done it’s prob best to. I got used to the gear knob quite quickly, it was the electronic handbrake that took me longer. The gearshift paddles are handy sometimes. As soon as you use one the gearbox goes in to manual mode. When you have finished playing/overtaking just hold the + paddle towards you for a few seconds and the car will go back to D and automatic. It’s in the manual but took me a while to realise…. I don’t use the paddles that much, or Sport mode, but it is there. I also find that music sounds much better with Logic 7 turned off, but that’s a personal thing. I don’t do many miles so I just have my oil changed every 12 months.

No heater blower:
Get your tools out and cross reference to the list needed for the job Rolling with laughter

Sometimes fixed with a fuse. Rare. Sometimes fixed with a new final stage resistor. Stop gap usually.

Normally always a new motor needed.

Ok mj might as well get it all done at the same time then.
Thanks Dr. Rob I had a look at the thread earlier, not something I fancy tackling myself, but hopefully it's just a fuse, fingers crossed. I'm rather gutted if I'm honest, your friends from Shropshire sounded great, if I was just a few hours earlier checking back here I'd have been very very tempted, Oh well. Would bodsy come to avonmouth to do it all you think?
