Wheel buckled!!

Picked up my car 4 days ago, got remap and gearbox and engine oil change done. The garage that I bought it from paid for gearbox oil change and laser alighnment. But i still noticed a slight wobble, so I took it to a tyre place and found a alloy slightly buckled! However it balanced out. The tyr guy said its fine but I can still feel it vibrate and the garage is putting the blame on us! That we must have kerbed it, but it was vibrating when we test drove the car, that is why he tracked the car and even replace the fron two tyres for partworns. Do I have arguement that the car is not fit to be on the road and have him replace the alloy? He is telling me to just switch the wheels to the rear. Doesn't a buckled wheel damage the drivetrain?

Which garage did you buy it from?

Original or cheap wheels that buckle easier?

Easy to see kerbing, the rim would actually be damaged. Possibly if it's not a good quality (or larger rim size than LR recommend) wheel it may have been damaged just by a reasonable sized pothole. If that's the case it may well happen again... so could be worth looking out for a set of rims/tyres 2nd hand.

its unusual for OE wheels to buckle but they do sometimes, sounds like aftermarket jobbys, can you confirm the wheel/tyre size ..first thing to do for your own comfort would be to put the offending wheel to the back of the range cos you shouldn't feel it to much there, second would be to look for a replacement rim and maybe like richard says a set of wheels/tyres on ebay..

Hi thanks for the reply's. I got them on the car, They are 20" autobiography wheels with 275/45/20 tyres. Which I now know are the wrong size for a FF! The tyre fitter says they are OE, but I doubt it. The wheel looks fine, no scuffs or scratches but when you see it on the balancing machine you can see the wheel has been bashed a bit. My concern is, putting it on the rear will that do harm to the drivetrain?

If you can see the wheel is buckeled when spinning on a balancing machine and you can feel vibration from it thro the steering wheel I would suggest replacing the wheel, even on the back you could cause premature wear of drive train components. It's not inconceivable the buckle could get progressively worse.
Won't do much for tyre wear either.
I presume you have replaced the wheel on the car with the spare and that all the vibration has disappeared?

putting it on the rear would be a temporary solution and it wont damage the drive train in the short term...if funds are tight just get a one wheel and stick the damaged one in the spare..

Try one of the specialist Land Rover breakers - there are some good ones out there if you google them 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I've got 5 x 19" wheels and tyres for sale if you are stuck and I would let you have them for not much more than a rim Thumbs Up
