REstricted performance and sounding like an old taxi

Evening all,

I posted a few weeks ago about restricted performance a few suggestions came back (thank you as always) - of which I checked and could find nothing obvious.

This even it happened again - but with one notible difference.

I did a little 'spirited' acceleration (cos I love the 4.4 pick up from 20mph to 'just shy of 70' <cough>) while joining a dual carriageway and all was normal. I eased off and naturally slowed to turn off at the next junction when up popped the Restricted Performance symbol again - but then I hear pretty loud 'tappety' type noises under gentle load - I can only describe it as as old taxi with no oil.. Shocked

Pulled over to safe place, turned it off and got out for a quick look - I couldn't see anything obvious so, wanting to limp home, i started the engine again and all was fine... no restricted performance, normal power etc etc.

I drove about 3 miles home (gently) but no messages, nothing... Unfortunately i have developed fault with my IID BT although last time I got restricted perf there were no codes saved to give me any clues.

Has anyone experience the 'old taxi' tappety noises and can suggest what I might need to do to investigate?

Many Thanks Ash

just to add, before it happened again today I did pull the faults codes via IID but the only thing I got was this one. Last time I got the performance issue I obvioulsy turned the car off - in doing so it cleared the fault and there were no hard faults stored - this makes it quite difficult to find a clue to the issue.

It might be totally unrelated but though't I'd post just in case. Ash
