L405 stolen, considering L460

My L405 was stolen last week. Really struggling with what to replace it with other than another Range Rover. Had it 7 years from new, been the most faultless car I've owned over 90k miles.

I wondered if there's any reason to avoid the early 22 plate cars - were there early gremlins to avoid and is it better to pay the extra for a 23 model year car?

Thanks Current

I’d check insurance first - insurers take a very pessimistic view if the customer replaces a car like for like with one that’s known to have security issues. Security is better on the newer cars but thieves are still trying and causing a lot of mess in doing so.

22MY early cars do have a few gremlins but nothing that is unlikely to haven’t been sorted. Rear lamp failures are the obvious one so check the recall has been done.

Thanks. I suspect insurance will be an issue. I've thought about alternatives, cayenne bentayga etc but none do what the RR does. My use is daily for our dogs, longer trips, few ski trips in the winters , dogs and bikes in the summers down to the alps etc. RR is perfect for it, driving down to the alps you don't feel you've been on a journey. In our old x5 and cayenne, we used to feel a bit beat up by the time we get there.

Defender is an option but its no range rover. Current

More to that than meets the eye, I would suggest.

They HAD to buy one because where they live is rural and the roads are terrible, full of potholes. Audlam isn’t exactly in the middle of nowhere and look at the size of the awful wheels they’ve fitted to it! They bought it because they live in Cheshire…. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

When I explained , together with quotes, the security on the new L460,the insurance company gave a sensible price.
Whilst I’m hoping it all becomes a bit more sensible by the time I want to reinsure, my expectation is the insurance companies will eventually differentiate between secure and not so secure. In the meantime there are some stunning buys out there for the L460 Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

JLR say that only 10 of latest model Range Rovers stolen out of 12,200 since January 2022.

It would be interesting to know if there was some statistics on driver contribution to these thefts such as not double locking.

Click Bait

The insurance was not cancelled it came up for renewal and the insurer didn't offer a quote, they had swapped to the defender during the term. MY23 PHEV HSE

They don’t mention the ‘attempted theft’ claims though which are sizeable.
