Charging will discourage people from joining in the first place as most other forums are provided FOC. However charging to place an advert to sell something seems perfectly acceptable.

what about a subscription area for tech help...there's nothing more frustrating than brand new members coming in and asking for help on their very first post then they get an answer and we never hear from them again.. |

Well other forums manage by with members paying a subscription and their number out swell what are on FFRR plus I don't go with the theory it discourages people plus there should also be a charge for selling stuff on the forum too |

How about a little badge under your username if you make a contribution. I've seen this work well on other forums. Maybe £5 or £10 ? |
