Would you still use the Forum if it came to a Yearly subscription charge

And why don't you charge Martin

It's alright saying advertisers help with the costs but other forums I am on also have advertisers and a subscription charge

i would pay at least a pound..

seriously though , i would pay a reasonable amount, its certainly worth it with all the info and tech stuff here on the forum..

Charging will discourage people from joining in the first place as most other forums are provided FOC. However charging to place an advert to sell something seems perfectly acceptable.

what about a subscription area for tech help...there's nothing more frustrating than brand new members coming in and asking for help on their very first post then they get an answer and we never hear from them again..

Well other forums manage by with members paying a subscription and their number out swell what are on FFRR plus I don't go with the theory it discourages people plus there should also be a charge for selling stuff on the forum too

Because I like the forums to be open to and free to use for all

If people want to put some money in the pot they can donate. You can do this just to be nice, because you'd sold something or because you're feeling guilty

On a note to this , yes i would be happy that everyone makes a for instance a £5 or whatever contribution to Martin.

May be free to look but pay if you want to join ? Far to many gone...

How about a little badge under your username if you make a contribution. I've seen this work well on other forums. Maybe £5 or £10 ?
