P0342-64 (2F) Camshaft position sensor A - circuity low input (banks 1 or single sensor) - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

You may remember the L405 I purchased on eBay last year that wouldn't turn over on the starter. Despite having two new batteries and having cleaned up al the external ground connections the problem remained the same.

I then saw a recent YouTube video showing someone with a similar problem and they put a battery jump pack on and it fired in to life. I bought a jump pack and it di then turn over, albeit rather laboured. It still didn't fire though so I'm not much further forward.

The only consistent error code was the one above so I wanted to see if anyone has experience of this and if it really is just a sensor or if this is just a distraction and something else is really wrong.

Was this the eBay special, where you were asked if the crank turned over by hand?

It was the eBay special where I asked the best way to access the crank pulley to turn it over by hand.

The sensors (4) are easy to replace and aftermarket items are fairly inexpensive. The wiring or connector to the sensor may be an issue also. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8
