the colour looks very close to the light surround grey and that gives a good contrast to the body grey...

I had a similar problem with the wife leaving milk in the boot and exploding leaving an awful smell. Worse than wet dog! Yesterday I stripped all the boot carpets out and used the hose and washing powder to give them all a good scrub! They have come up a treat considering I used the hose and they were drenched! Cheers rob i can give that a try this weekend if the weather improves as i can then use the sunny periods to help dry them out rather than relying on the A/C to do it.

Its just really annoying that even though i've hoovered it lots the smell is still there and i can still see dog hairs in some bits

Well last time, until 1AM saw me stripping the rear bumper and bumper support bracket(more like slab of metal!) off the car for my towbar fitment. This was a PITA due to the 2 very hard to access bolts for each side hidden in the cubby areas with kit all around

Also all the cacked in mud keeping the bumper on didnt help but the wieght of the bumper is probably offset by the mud and cack i have removed from the rear now, and the bits of rust on the bracket!!! also found that wading over arch high in water will be a no go, and that some electrical body grommets had popped off so needed reseating, and then wired in the lower tailgate with the new loom and still the solenoid wouldnt fire but i still need to order one for the passenger side so that may be the cause as the reverse lights still work ok

Next up is the proper LR wiring for the towkit to be fitted tonight, only single electrics as i need another module for the double electrics to work from what i can see as i dont want to be splicing cables

Also realise how much of the boot comes out so will be stripping out on a day off for a good hose down, and the way the spare wheel comes out is great and a nice touch as well!

Towbar isn't detachable but is only 2 bolts so isn't a big job to worry about when i want to look less tractor like and just hide it in the boot and leave electrics hidden away. Which is another job, i want to drill into the support bar and took the electrics up near the bumper so they dont poke out/show as much and keep a little less visible

Big thumbs up to duckworth parts for them all coming ontime, just 1 item to return but its no biggy

Well some of the boot has been stripped out, washed and dried, even used some fabric conditioner as its made it smell nicer, but its not lasted long so will be doing the other bits of the boot next week and also the load cover as well to try and eliminate the smell but think it might be into some of the plastics as well

I have some fabreeze i spray in every now and again to freshen it up as well

Also fitted the tow module the other day and after picking the caravan up again today with its new awning, annex and ground sheet the little trailer symbol came up in green which saddo i am thought was cool

I do appear to have a broken lug for the drivers side of the rear bumper which lets it shuffle 1-2cm out of alignment so need to get that added to my list as well

Also ordered a claybar, some juice and some waxing test pot from a car detailing site and will be giving it a test on the bonnet first to see how it goes, then the other panels one at a time over a few days to clean the car up, then give the leather another real good bash at cleaning and use a scrubbing brush this time to really get the dirt out

Buying bits for the caravan is taking up some cash this month but i am wanting to fit some 19/20s to the car now and keep the 18's for when the snow hits so i can get some nice MT's fitted or suchlike as they come up cheap on the bay every now and again as solo's or pairs part used

Just recently got the SWMBO's SSS serviced which for £120 for oil, filters and coolant isn't too bad i thought and it keeps its warranty for another few months till it runs out so will need to get it MOT'd as well and check over it as i think rust is starting to appear on underside parts

I've also ordered some rust eater as my rear arch's are showing signs in the normal place so want to get that sorted and will probably apply some paint via a brush as its a well hidden area 99% of the time and the finish doesn't need to be 100% spot on as long as it protects the metalwork

Im currently getting just over 19mpg still through zipping about town and on the school run and towing the caravan home today which isnt too bad i think as i know it jumps a fair bit when on a run

Ok over the last week ive been washing the car down and then claybarring a few panels at a time.

The lower half of the doors with the plastic covers were really bad with tar and rough surface as was the front bumper.

Now they are silky smooth.

I also got some dodo juice polish and tried some on the drivers side of the front bonnet, the wing and the rear drivers side panel. then i washed the car after a few more days as the dust just builds up that quickly on the car
Needless to say washing in general was that much easier but on the polished panels the dirt almost fell off just using the initial rinse which was great and the shine afterwards was so great im going to try and do the rest of the panels over the few days i have time off in the afternoons before picking the kids up.

The car is getting an avg of 17.2mpg at the minute according to the computer as i have been bombing to and from hospital and work which eats fuel up like anything as its not long runs and lots of corners

The boot still smells a little dog like but not too bad but the rest of the carpet panels need doing and the load cover.

The front windscreen buzz is still there but only after 60mph now and not at all in rain upto 80leptons on a private road.

I do however get a weird problem once every few days in that if i swap from CD/MP3 audio to radio i lose steering wheel volume control its fine for TV and CD but just radio it wont work. If i make a stop on the journey and then restart its fine. Really strange to be honest.

Also looking at spare wheels for winter a nice cheap set and some cheap scorpions that are part worn to get me through winter as there are some good sets coming up online at the minute but have to wait till payday now

Well it was bound to happen, and when the car was very dirty after looking down a lane for some fallen trees and the local puddles/lakes...

I had pulled up a good few feet behind an artic at a set of lights that had just gone red, so put her into Park and Handbrake up.

Then the reversing lights of the Artic came on
And it started rolling back, and more and more and just about a foot away from the front end i sounded my horn but it was too late

Looks like Bumper, Number plate, Parking sensor/wiring, Bumper iron and my supercharged grille as well

So been to get a quote already and they have admitted guilt and are more than willing to payout without the insurance co involvement which could ease things along but i wonder what temp car i'll get

I may ask them to give me a defneder 110 as if im slumming it i may as well go the whole hog! as i doubt ill get an FFRR unless i can convince SHB to discount one a little for me

More gutted as i had just had to go to the apple store to replace my iPod which i'd updated from beta to 5 about 2 weeks ago, it started getting a lot warmer in use and the battery life dropped like a brick and then it wouldnt even charge so had the pleasure of waiting in the apple store for ages with all the benefit scroungers and the staff that looked about 10yrs+ younger than me acting like techies...

Fair do's they replaced it on the spot as it was obviously duff and no i have one that is charging and has no scratches on the back so it will go straight into its protector

Well my bumper will be up for grabs as i think the grille will already be spoken for then you just need lights, rear support and correct wiring

Fingers crossed i'll be getting my FFRR back today after the front end has been re-done and the tailgate also resprayed due to the normal rust on the lip(shocking for a 6yr old car!)

I've been on a misson to see how dirty i can make the D4 and i havent achieved my previous level of dirt i got on the D4 HSE before handing it back but it was worth a try as its been pretty dry lately and i only had a few days but will try and picture it up later.

Need to get a wire brush wheel and attack the rear arches that are bubbling a bit and treat and paint them, but only painting solid black and laqcuering them as its the bits hidden by the plastic covers on the doors as im sure they create the rust areas by holding water and dirt in there all the time

Well yesterday sorted out the rear number plate bulb check warning, the bulb was just loose

Then refitted my nicely shampoo'd and conditioned parcel shelf and it looks fab now

Then Some w@nk stain gypo in his transit tipper clipped my drivers side mirror and drove off left 2 thumb sized scratches on the cover now

Another thing to replace now
